Ternary lithium polymer batteries have significantly higher energy density, offering longer range or lighter weight, making them more suitable for high-energy-demand scenarios such as smartphones or high-end drones.


Cycle Life and Durability:


Lithium manganese oxide polymer batteries typically have longer cycle life and slower degradation.

Safety and Thermal Stability:


Lithium manganese oxide polymer batteries have better thermal stability and a lower risk of thermal runaway, making them suitable for scenarios with high safety requirements. Ternary lithium batteries have poorer thermal stability and are prone to side reactions at high temperatures, requiring a battery management system (BMS) and thermal management design to ensure safety.


Cost and Resources:


Lithium manganese oxide cathode materials rely on manganese (abundant in my country), resulting in lower raw material costs and an overall cost 20%-30% lower than ternary lithium batteries. Ternary lithium batteries require rare metals such as nickel and cobalt, leading to higher supply chain costs and greater price fluctuations.


Temperature adaptability:


Lithium manganese oxide polymer batteries exhibit excellent low-temperature performance (operating at -20℃), but poor high-temperature stability (performance drops sharply above 50℃); ternary lithium batteries have better high-temperature resistance, but relatively weaker low-temperature performance. In cold regions, ternary lithium batteries may perform more stably.
